Nikki Thompson started her tattoo career in 1991 and by 1995 opened Nikki's Tattoo Studio in Charlotte. This was Charlotte's first female owned and operated studio. And Nikki was the only female tattoo artist in Charlotte for the first 8 years of her opening the studio! She specializes in scar cover and repair by camouflage or cover with a tattoo. This came about as she increased her knowledge in cosmetic services such as eyebrows, eyeliner, full lip & lip blushing, SMP, Li-FT & of course areola restoration. In her first Areola restoration class she was introduced to the scar minimizing procedure, dry needling, which later was renamed microneedling and that is what led to her being a microneedling specialist. It has been a very rewarding journey. This is completly different than clinical micro needling which has many limitations so the results are not comparable. Nikki does not use the Skin Pen as it is not nearly as effective as her equipment. The Skin Pen is designed to not be very powerful or go very deep and has limitations in the configurations of needles used. Microneedling was acutally discovered by a tattoo artist, Susan Church, in 1998. Nikki uses these techniques for maximum effectivness. Just see her galleries.
